The Pine Bluff Zebras beat the North Little Rock Charging Wildcats 41-17 at Jordan Stadium-Torii Hunter Field on Friday night.
The Zebras, which happen to be the #52 ranked team in the Nation going into Friday’s contest, got off to a slow start as the went into the second quarter scoreless.
The 7A Charging Wildcats took a 3-0 lead in the second quarter until Romar Reades scored on a 15 yarder to end an 80 yard drive (10 yds, 59 yds, 6 yds, and 15 yds) put together by the senior. The extra point was missed making the score 6-3.
Kacy Higgins, who started at quarterback, connected with David Beasley for a 15 yard touchdown and they connected again for the two point conversion making the score 14-3 at halftime.
Beasly scored again in the second half when he returned a put 55 yards. LaDarius Skelton, who started the second half of the game at quarterback, scored on a 33 yard touchdown. Higgins rushed for the two point conversion making the score 28-3.
North Little Rock eventually scored again but it did not deter Pine Bluff’s momentum. Skelton connected with Beasley for a touchdown. Reades also had rushes again of 40, 30, and 4 yards to score the Zebras final touchdown of the night.
Arkansas’ top ranked team in 6A, according to Hootens Arkansas Football, will be back in action Friday night against Arkansas High School (Texarkana) at Jordan Stadium-Torii Hunter Field. This will be the Zebras first Conference game of the season.
